Atiku vows never to interfere with judiciary, National Assembly if elected president

- The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has vows to uphold the principle of separation of powers if elected as president

- Atiku promises to unify the country while accusing the President Muhammadu Buhari administration of pitting Nigerians against each other

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has promised not to interfere in the affairs of other arms of government if elected as president.

Atiku speaking at his campaign rally in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital on Monday, February 11, vowed to uphold the principle of separation of powers if voted into office, Channels TV reports.

“I will protect the Constitution,” he said. “I will protect the separation of powers. I will not interfere with the National Assembly because I believe in checks and balances. As you see me so, I will not interfere with the Judiciary because it is part and parcel of our checks and balances. I will uphold the rule of law. I will not allow the rule of law to be trampled by anybody,” he said.

The presidential candidate who promised to unify the country accused the President Muhammadu Buhari administration of pitting Nigerians against each other.

Meanwhile, Femi Majekodunmi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state, has predicted a landslide victory for President Muhammadu Buhari, in the presidential election scheduled for Saturday, February 16.

Daily Sun reports that Majekodunmi made the prediction at the weekend, while speaking with journalists on the state of affairs in the country, in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The party chieftain maintained that most Nigerians want the ruling APC to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to them, stating that the victory of president would be across all the six zones because the love for him is all over the country.
