- Atiku claimed the list of those to be arrested has been drawn up by the cabal

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday, February 7, raised the alarm over an alleged plot to arrest some of his key associates.

Vanguard reports that Atiku accused an unnamed governor from northeast and a prominent minister in the current administration of working in cahoots with APC to achieve the plot.

The PDP presidential candidate said his close political associates were being targeted for arrest by the APC-led federal government, which is hell bent on derailing the electoral process.

The statement read: ''The architects of this plot believe that unless the APC destabilises the main opposition party and gets rid of the key associates of the PDP presidential candidate, President Buhari’s plan to clinch a second term in office will be in jeopardy, especially as they are afraid, for obvious reasons that the president has become unpopular and won’t be reelected at the poll.

''The first step in this desperate plot is to arrest some of our associates using the EFCC with others soon to follow, based on a list that has been drawn up by the cabal.”

Recall that PDP had earlier cried out over plots to frame its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and Senate president Bukola Saraki on phantom charges of gunrunning and murder.

Legit reported that the Coalition of United Political Parties also raised the same alarm in a statement by its spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere.

The spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, alleged that some criminal elements had been contracted to use the vehicles of Atiku and Saraki to cause mayhem and pandemonium by firing into gatherings in various parts of the country.
