- Before the Appeal Court verdict, APC was in turbulent time as INEC vowed not to include the party on its ballot papers prepared for election

The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), following the Sokoto Appeal Court ruling on Wednesday, February 13, upholding the primary election in state, said it has submitted names of its candidates to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party said the move was expedient in order to beat the time in respect to the electoral umpire's general elections schedule , This Day reports.

Confirming the development in an interview with pressmen at the APC headquarters in Abuja, Zamfara governor, Abdulaziz Yari, said the move was in line with the ruling of the Sokoto Appeal Court.

The governor also disclosed that the Appeal Court ruled in line with the earlier judgement of the Zamfara High Court mandating INEC to recognise the APC candidates from the state.

Yari said: “We in Zamfara State are happy at the development because we knew that we did the right thing and conducted our primaries.”

In the same vein, the national legal adviser of APC, Babatunde Ogala, , confirmed the development, adding that the copy of the court order has been submitted at the INEC office for official documentation and notification.

He added: “What we owe INEC is to officially notify it of the new ruling of the Appeal Court on the Zamfara state matter which is what we have done.

''We have forwarded copies of the court order to INEC and for it to reflect the names of our already submitted candidates on the ballot paper when the election starts on Saturday.''
