Willian wants Chelsea to hand rejuvenated star new contract at Stamford Bridge

- Willian is hopeful David Luiz will come to terms with Chelsea over a new deal at the Premier League club

- Luiz’s current deal expires at the end of the campaign and Chelsea are unlikely to offer the Brazilian more than 12-month extension

- The 30-year-old Willian currently has 18 months left on his contract at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea star Willian is upbeat compatriot David Luiz will reach an agreement with club chiefs and extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

According to a UK Metro report, Luiz’s current deal at west London expires at the end of the current campaign and Chelsea are not keen offering the 30-year-old Luiz more than 12-month extension, as it is the club’s policy.

Since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri from Napoli last summer, Luiz has experienced a turn around this season, missing just 90 minutes of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures so far.

Interestingly, under former boss Antonio Conte the Brazilian centre-back struggled for game time, but Willian is confident the highly-experienced defender will remain in London.

“For sure, of course. I want [him to stay].

“We have to see if they, the club, will want him. I think they want him. For me, I want him to stay,” added Willan, who was repeatedly linked with a switch to Manchester United before Jose Mourinho’s sack.

“I’m fine, I’m fine,” he said.

“No rush about that. We can talk about that in the future, no problem,” admitted Willian, who is now among the fans’ favourite at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are expected to sign a new striker this January with Sarri eyeing the pair of Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson and AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Chelsea have surprisingly called off their case for Real Madrid midfielder Isco after the Spaniard demanded for extra money.

According to a UK Metro report citing Sun, Chelsea and Isco representatives had agreed a £75m deal including add-ons sending the deal to £100m, but the Los Blancos star suddenly demanded for more ‘cash’ after late interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
