Why I don’t need to join cult to be governor in 2019 - APGA candidate Maku

- A former minister of information and governorship candidate of APGA in Nasarawa state, Labaran Maku, says he does not need to join cult to be governor

- The governorship candidate says he has always relied only on God throughout his life and the latter has been faithful to him

- According to Maku, he has resisted all pressures to join ungodly groups since he was a student

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa state, Labaran Maku, has said he would not join any cult group just to be elected governor of the state in the forthcoming general elections.

Maku made the assertion on Wednesday, January 2, while addressing supporters that paid new year homage to him at his home in Wakama village of Nassarawa-Eggon local government area of the state.

According to him, he has resisted all pressures to join ungodly groups since his student days, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Legit.ng notes that the governorship candidate says: “I have always relied only on God throughout my life and He has been faithful to me. If God has helped and protected me since my days as a leader of students, to commissioner, deputy governor and minister, why should I now rely on a deity that is powerless. No power or connection that is not of God that can give me position except God.

Maku advised leaders to desist from dividing people along ethnic and religion lines only to steal public funds.

He explained that no religion encourages corruption, therefore no one should use religion and thereafter steal government money.

Maku added: “If you claim to be religious, the virtue of your religion should manifest on how you manage the affairs of the state or country and not just lip service."

He promised to operate a government that would be corruption-free and ensure justice to all, if elected governor.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Nasarawa state, Labaran Maku, promised to end insecurity in the state, if elected in 2019.

Maku, a former minister of information, made the promise on Friday, December 21, while addressing some internally displaced persons in Akon, Obi local government area.

He said that he would ensure that peace returns to all parts of the state within his first 100 days in office.

Maku, who is also the national secretary of APGA, said that his administration would convene a peace, unity and security summit, where the template for the restoration of peace and the people’s integration would be fine-tuned.

He added: “By the grace of God and the commitment of my government, we will make sure that no community is taken over by any militia group.

“We will make the state too hot for any militia group to operate; we will also defend our people in all parts of the state from attacks."

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
