- Senator Ben Murray-Bruce claimed electricity is yet to be restored to Dino Melaye’s home and his are living under very horrific conditions

- Senator Melaye’s son, Josh, also corroborated Murray-Bruce’s claim saying they have no light in the house and they buy water to drink

- Josh also claimed that the police have restricted visitors from visiting them

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, representing the Bayelsa East in the National Assembly, on Wednesday, January 9, claimed that the police ordered the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) not to reconnect electricity to the residence of Senator Dino Melaye.

Senator Murray-Bruce said this via his official Twitter handle, @benmurraybruce.

He tweeted: “So after @dino_melaye surrendered himself to @PoliceNG, the Police did a thorough search of his house & found nothing. Yet, the police have refused AEDC from reconnecting his power. Currently, Dino’s kids are left to sleep in darkness and under very horrific conditions.”

Corroborating Senator Murray-Bruce’s allegation, the alleged first son of the embattled Kogi West senator, Josh Melaye, posted on his Instagram page that since their father surrendered to the police on Friday, January 4, they have been kept in horrific condition.

In his post, Josh said they have no light in their house and that he and his siblings buy water to drink. He also alleged that the police have restricted visitors from visiting them.

Senator Dino Melaye finally surrendered to the Nigeria Police Force after eight days siege on his Abuja residence. The controversial senator was arrested to answer to the case of attempted culpable homicide.

He is facing interrogation by the police team probing his involvement in the shooting of a policeman by thugs embedded in a convoy of the senator on July 19, 2018, in Kogi state.

Senator Melaye had refused to leave his residence, prompting more deployment by the police to his house.

A request by Kogi-born senator for police officers to vacate his residence and desist from further attempts at arresting him was on Thursday, January 3, declined by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Meanwhile,Senator Melaye had been admitted to an undisclosed hospital, hours after he surrendered himself to the police.

The police revealed this in a statement by spokesman Jimoh Moshood. Moshood said the senator was in stable condition but did not indicate the nature his illness.
