Unemployment: Don't look for jobs, be self-employed and employ five others - Aregbesola to school leavers

- The ex-governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has urged school leavers not to bother about looking for jobs

- The former governor noted that there are no jobs in the country, urging the graduands to be self-employed and create jobs for others

- He also attributed the challenges facing the country to low knowledge base in the education system

The immediate governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has told the graduating students of Fountain University, Osogbo, to look for pleasant alternative to job creation rather than looking for white-collar jobs after leaving school.

Speaking during the 8th convocation ceremony of the university, where he was honoured with a doctorate in science, the ex-governor lamented the education situation in the country, urging the graduands to think of how to be self-employed against the unemployment odds across country.

Legit.ng gathers that Aregbesola also attributed the challenges facing the country to low knowledge base in the education system.

He said: “To me education is the means through which a good society can be guaranteed. The objectives of education include character formation, social responsibility, value orientation and financial independence.

"As a result, the university as the pinnacle of education, must set goals for itself and the society.

“Our knowledge base as a country is low, judging by the low knowledge productivity of Nigeria. Skills and competence to build a good society are still missing.

"I want to urge you graduands to go out and demonstrate what you have acquired during your school days, struggle to create and be of good character because character is key. Don’t bother to look for jobs. Make effort to be self-employed and employ five others.”

Bagudu, showering flurry of encomium on Aregebesola, said the education policy of the Osun state governor remained the best in the country.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
