There's a grand plan to stop Muslim girls from being educated - Group cries out against anti-hijab policy in schools

- The Al-mu’minaat Organisation has called on govt at all levels to stop the unwarranted discrimination against Muslim girls in hijab

- The organisation bemoaned a situation where hatred for Islam and Muslims is demonstrated by government establishments, corporate organisations, schools and individuals

- The Al-mu’minaat Organisation said it had concluded that there is a grand plan playing out to either stop Muslim girls from being educated or change their religion

Government at all levels has been urged by the Al-mu’minaat Organisation (The Believing Women) to direct all its agencies and departments to stop the unwarranted discrimination against Muslim girls in hijab.

The call was made by the organisation's national president, Hajia Nimatullah Abdul-Quadri, ahead of the World Hijab Day in Lagos, The Guardian reports.

Legit.ng gathers that she said: “Our hijab has had its undue share of pains in Nigeria. We have come under attack like never before and this has increased in us, the will and strength to fight for our constitutional rights using all means devoid of violence.”

Abdul-Quadri bemoaned a situation where hatred for Islam and Muslims is demonstrated by government establishments, corporate organisations, schools and individuals.

She said: “Of particular attention today is the treatment meted out to Muslim girls and ladies wearing the hijab. Although we have a subsisting court judgement permitting the use of hijab in schools, some school heads in Lagos state have repeatedly flouted this and demonstrated contempt for this ruling.

"Almost on a daily basis, secondary school students call in to lay complaints of staff members of their schools forcing them to pull off their hijab.

“From Lagos state schools to the University of Ibadan International School, Ibadan, to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Staff School, Oyo State, to schools of nursing in the south-west, the sad story is the same.”

She added: "We have thus concluded that there is a grand plan playing out; a plan to either stop Muslim girls from being educated or change their religion, a colonial missionary policy in post-Independent Nigeria."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos state area unit, stated that one of the criteria its members will use for voting gubernatorial candidates in Lagos state in 2019 will be the unconditional approval for female students to wear hijab in schools.

The head of the MSSN in Lagos, Saheed Ashafa, made the disclosure public at the group's 106th Islamic Vacation Course which took place at the Human Capital Development Center, Noforija, Epe.

Ashafa called on government and school authorities to embrace the use of hijab in schools, pointing out that assaults on school children over the use of hijab is a violation of their fundamental rights and freedom.
