There are better things to do with that money - Mr Eazi as he explains why he does not own a car

Entertainment industries all over the world are thriving and most creatives in the industry make a lot of money that affords them the luxury that several fans can only dream of.

In Nigeria for instance many celebrities have been known to spend a fortune on luxury items including expensive automobiles. In 2018 it was reported that a number of popular musicians purchased expensive cars.

However it comes as a surprise to discover that one of Nigeria’s top musicians, Mr Eazi, does not own a single car. The Leg Over crooner disclosed this in an interview with Punch as he explained the reason behind it.

He explained that he prefers to use taxis instead of buying a car that he might drive only a few times in a year. He further revealed that his self-worth is not based on material things.

He said: “Till today, I use Uber but I do not care and by the way, I don’t even pay for the ride because I was given Uber credit. But if you see me in the Uber vehicle and feel that Mr Eazi is poor, what is my business (with that)? For instance, everybody around me has cars, and besides, I buy cars for people. If it makes sense for me to use an Uber, why should I drive? Why would I pay about N100m for a car that I would probably drive just five times a year?

“There are better things to do with that money. In the short time I have spent on earth, I have made a lot of money. While I was into mining, I had so much money that I was living at a place that was a stone’s throw away from the airport in Accra and I was paying my rent in dollars.

“I was making a lot of money. That shows you how expensive it was but I went from there to squatting with my friend in a one-room apartment. I was sleeping on the floor in his room. Also, when I was doing the business of selling beverages, we started with a crate and in a short while, we began to import four containers every two weeks. From importing four containers every two weeks, we went back to nothing. In my life, I have had ups and down. If my self-worth was based on material things, I would have killed myself.”

Meanwhile it was earlier reported that Mr Eazi is one of the two Nigerians to perform at one of the world's biggest music festival, Coachella. Afrofusion artiste, Burna Boy is the second lucky performer at the event.

This worldwide music event is like one of the stages where musicians all over the world dream of performing on, and the fact that singers Mr Eazi and Burna Boy will dance and sing on this platform is a big deal.

Due to this, many Nigerians could not hide their excitement and awe because just some few years back, Burna Boy and Mr Eazi were not esteemed in the Nigerian music industry. That they have gone on to be forces to reckon with has shocked many people.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
