Tambuwal mourns 25 Sokoto residents killed by bandits, suspends campaign

- Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state suspended a scheduled campaign of the PDP in the state

- The campaign was suspended over the killing of 25 residents of three villages in the state by some bandits

- Many others were also left with various degrees of injuries while houses were burnt and property lost

The Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, on Monday, January 14, suspended his political campaign in the state over the killing of 25 residents of the state by some bandits.

The suspension of the campaign by the governor followed attacks in three villages in Gandi district, Rabah local government area of Sokoto by hoodlums suspected to be a spill-over of the armed bandits terrorising the state.

Guardian reports that the attack left about 25 people killed while many others were left with various degrees of injuries.

Also, many homes and business buildings were destroyed by the bandits who stormed the villages on Sunday, January 13.

It was gathered that the Tambuwal postponed the rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which was scheduled to take place in Goronyo town to a yet to be announced date.

The PDP Goronyo rally was expected as a kick-off for the local government campaigns of the party after concluding campaigns in the three senatorial zones in the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, said he was confident that the ongoing “Exercise Egwu Eke III which would be launched across Nigeria will swallow all bandits, rustlers, terrorists, kidnappers, robbers and militants” in the country.

He also assured that the python “will also swallow thugs and other miscreants that may raise their heads to disturb peace in the country’’ at its conclusion in February.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
