Senator Sani warns APC supporters over planned door-to-door campaign for President Buhari, others

Senator Shehu Sani has warned supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who have been recruited for door-to-door campaigns for President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates of the ruling party in the general elections to be careful.

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) senator representing Kaduna central claimed that the supporters would meet with lots of angry Nigerians who are unhappy with the state of the country.

He warned the supporters to be vigilant so they do not get attacked by angry electorates.

Legit.ng recalls that President Muhammadu Bauhari had asked members of APC Women and Youths Presidential Campaign Team (PCT) to embark on door-to-door campaign for the victory of the party at the 2019 general elections.

The president gave the charge on Thursday, December 3, while inaugurating the campaign team at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Now Senator Sani is warning the president's supporters not to be too enthusiastic about selling their candidate before reportedly angry electorates.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported earlier that Senator Sani asked Nigerians to vote out the APC in the general elections over the alleged failure of the current administration to offer good governance.

Senator Sani in an address on Wednesday, January 2, told members of the Igbo Youth Peace and Unity Initiative that the APC government had wreaked havoc on the people.

“We must not deceive ourselves, we must tell ourselves the truth, the nation is sick, the state is sick. Nigerians expected a better deal than what we are having today. People who begged you three and half years ago to vote them have turned themselves to demi gods,” Sani said.

Senator Sani was a member of the APC until October 2018 when he defected to the PRP after the ruling party refused to give him a return ticket to the senate because of his unending conflicts with Kadua state governor El-Rufai.

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,

The pioneering phase of African Poetry

The pioneering phase We have called the first phase that of the pioneers. But since the phrase “pioneer poets” has often been used of writers of English expression like Osadebay, Casely-Hayford and Dei-Anag, we should point out that our “pioneer phase” also includes Negritude poets of French expression. The poetry of this phase is that of writers in “exile” keenly aware of being colonials, whose identity was under siege. It is a poetry of protest against exploitation and racial discrimination, of agitation for political independence, of nostalgic evocation of Africa’s past and visions of her future. However, although these were themes common to poets of both English and French expression, the obvious differences between the Francophone poets and the Anglophone writers of the 1930s and 1940s have been generally noted. Because of the intensity with which they felt their physical exile from Africa, coupled with their exposure to the experimental contemporary modes of writing in F
