Rotimi Amaechi reveals the only record PDP can use in defeating APC

- Nigeria’s transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, challenges the PDP to show its plans for Nigerians ahead of the general elections

- Amaechi claims PDP is desperate to regain leadership of the country so that it can embezzle money for the purpose of amassing funds for elections

- The minister says the opposition party will squander all the struggles Buhari has put in if allowed to regain power

Nigeria’s transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can only defeat his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) when it comes to corruption scorecard.

Speaking at a rally in Adamawa state on Tuesday, January 8, Amaechi, who serves as the director general of the presidential campaign council of the APC challenged the PDP to show its plans for Nigerians ahead of the general elections, according to Sahara Reporters.

“This election is between two parties that have been in power. We challenge PDP to an open debate where the masses will be present. Let them show their scorecard and we will show our own too. The only place they will beat us is in corruption," he said.

The minister alleged that the PDP was desperate to regain leadership of the country so that it can embezzle money for the purpose of amassing funds for coming elections.

“The only way we can show these men that we are serious is not to allow them to come back, because if they come back, they will use four years to recoup what they have lost. They will be busy eating from what is left. All the struggles of Buhari is what they would squander,” Amaechi said.

“You have to go out and vote. When you vote, do not leave. PDP people are magicians because if you go, two thousand would become two million. You know I was in PDP, so I know this. Stay there and vote. When they announce the results, you can go home."

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign has responded to the recent remarks against its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, by the co-chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng on Tuesday, January 8, by its director, media and publicity, Kola Ologbodiyan, the PDP said Tinubu ought to be found in the class of respected senior citizens who are decorous and speak statesmanly.

The party chided the APC national leader for his comments, accusing him of resorting to the gutters whenever he speaks in public.

The PDP said Atiku is a focused Nigerian who has contributed immensly to the economic and political development of our nation.

He has also displayed huge stability in character through the bridges of human and economic relationships he has built across our nation.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
