- The pastor challenged Nigerians to exercise their franchise as citizens and refuse to sell their votes

- Olaiya also admonished political parties to shun violence in the forthcoming polls

A pastor in Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Bariga chapter, Taiwo Olaiya, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to do away with cabal in his administration.

The pastor also called on Nigeria to all go out and vote in the forthcoming elections, The Punch reports.

Olaiya made this known in a statement on Thursday, January 17 during the church’s seven-day programme which was titled “The Seven Spirits of God”.

The cleric further asked all political parties to participate in the election in a healthy manner and not take it as a do-or-die exercise.

The statement partly said: “He advised President Muhammadu Buhari to protect his integrity and remove the cabal in his government, who may tarnish his reputation. He called on Nigerians to exercise their franchise as citizens and refuse to sell their votes.”

John Udofa, the church's regional 1 pastor, also asked Nigerians to exercise their right to vote by getting their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

Another part of the statement said: “The regional pastor, Udofa, said as the elections drew close, Christians must not be afraid. He said they should get their PVCs and vote while praying for a government that fears and honours God”

Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that President Buhari responded to the allegation of Aisha, his wife, and others that his government was being frustrated by some powerful people popularly referred to as ‘cabal’.

The wife of the president had, on several occasions, said a few people were frustrating the president's effort to perform and grow the nation beyond how he met it.

In response Buhari said: “That’s her business… This shows I am a real democrat… What they are saying is different from what is happening. They should come out and say those things they feel was staged managed by the cabal. What the cabal force me to do. They should mention just one thing.”

The president also challenged others making the allegations that a cabal is in charge of his government to substantiate their claims.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
