Pochettino commends Man United interim boss Solskjaer for an important reason

- Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has showered encomiums on Man United interim handler Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

- The former striker was appointed as on a temporary basis after the sack of Jose Mourinho in December

Mauricio Pochettino has commended Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of welcoming Manchester United to Wembley on Sunday, January 13, for their second clash of the season in the league.

The Spurs boss has it that Ole's move of bringing in Red Devils veteran ex-gaffer Alex Ferguson back into the frame of Old Trafford has rekindled the clubs energy and winning spirit.

Skysports reports that the interim manager invited the worlds most successful manager to the training grounds in the hopes of turning around United's fortune.

And now the Argentine, who is still strongly tipped to be Manchester United's next handler despite Solskjaer giving him a run for it, has revealed his deep, fond admiration for Ferguson.

"It is fantastic news because he is football., Sir Alex means football. For Him to be involved is massively important," said Pochettino.

"He was one of the people I admired the most, an inspiration. We had a very nice lunch in London (2016) and since then we have kept a good relationship," the Spurs boss said.

The two remain top contenders for the top job after Jose Mourinho was shown the door, and no doubt the game will be a chance for the football fraternity to see both managers go head to head.

However, Pochettino said that Solskjaer was fortunate to have access to Ferguson constantly and have the decorated managers by his side, dubbing him an encyclopedia of football.

"He(Ferguson) is the best manager in the history of football. To see him every day is massive. He is an encyclopedia of football," he said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino might have agreed deal with Manchester United to become their next manager.

After sacking ex boss Jose Mourinho due to poor performances, United replaced him with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who will be in charge at Old Trafford till the end of the season.

But there have been reports that the Red Devils are planning to hire a permanent coach at the end of the season with Zinedine Zidane and Pochettino linked with the job.

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,

The pioneering phase of African Poetry

The pioneering phase We have called the first phase that of the pioneers. But since the phrase “pioneer poets” has often been used of writers of English expression like Osadebay, Casely-Hayford and Dei-Anag, we should point out that our “pioneer phase” also includes Negritude poets of French expression. The poetry of this phase is that of writers in “exile” keenly aware of being colonials, whose identity was under siege. It is a poetry of protest against exploitation and racial discrimination, of agitation for political independence, of nostalgic evocation of Africa’s past and visions of her future. However, although these were themes common to poets of both English and French expression, the obvious differences between the Francophone poets and the Anglophone writers of the 1930s and 1940s have been generally noted. Because of the intensity with which they felt their physical exile from Africa, coupled with their exposure to the experimental contemporary modes of writing in F
