PDP rejoices as 4500 APC, PDM members defect in Niger state

- 1500 members of Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state

- 3,000 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also defected to the PDP in Niger

About 4500 defectors joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state over the week after 1500 members of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDP) and 3000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) decamped from their respective parties.

The 1500 PDM defectors from Chanchaga local government area of the state were led by local government chairman of the party, Hon. Suleiman Alhassan and were received by the PDP chairman in the local government, Hon. Jamilu Saidu in a ceremony in Minna on Friday, January 4, The Sun reports.

PDP chairman in the state, Alhaji Tanko Beji, had earlier received no fewer than 3,000 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Edati local government who defected into the party.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that more than 25,000 members of the Kwankwasiyya movement of the PDP from Kano South had joined the camp of the APC.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, receiving the decampees, presented flags to all candidates contesting for seats in the House of Representatives and state Assembly in the 2019 general polls.

The defectors claim that they were in Rano local government area to witness the formal presentation of flags to Senator Kabiru Gaya and other candidates from Kano South by Governor Ganduje, during the final grand rally for all candidates from the zone.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
