Nigerians blast Deeone after he said Dino Melaye should be treated with respect

Dino Melaye is one controversial politician who has garnered a lot of admiration for himself as well as a lot of dislikes. The senator is known for always being caught in police web. Recently, ex-BBNaija contestant Deeone took to sharing a photo of himself and Dino.

It would seem that the ex-housemate of the reality TV show visited Dino Melaye recently. The picture looked like some sort of souvenir from their meet-up. Deeone who was evidently happy to have met the politician shared the image on his Instagram page.

Alongside the image, Deeone also wrote a caption and this statement which he embedded side by side with the photo has generated a lot of controversy. In his inscription, the young guy who is also a comedian inferred that the politician deserved more respect than he was getting.

According to him, he felt Nigerians should display more respect for people in such position as Dino's. He then went ahead to wish Dino well by saying the politician would come out of his problems even stronger.

The angry reactions Deeone's appraisal of Dino Melaye generated has a lot to do with Dino's supposed evasion of justice by claiming to be sick ever since he was indicted in a particular case. The politician who had been refusing to show up in court finally yielded after his Maitama residence was surrounded by the police.

Dino was recently held responsible for the shooting of a police officer in Kogi state. It has been gathered that the senator will remain in custody until January 23 due to a 14-day remand warrant obtained from a High Court on Wednesday, January 9.

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,

The pioneering phase of African Poetry

The pioneering phase We have called the first phase that of the pioneers. But since the phrase “pioneer poets” has often been used of writers of English expression like Osadebay, Casely-Hayford and Dei-Anag, we should point out that our “pioneer phase” also includes Negritude poets of French expression. The poetry of this phase is that of writers in “exile” keenly aware of being colonials, whose identity was under siege. It is a poetry of protest against exploitation and racial discrimination, of agitation for political independence, of nostalgic evocation of Africa’s past and visions of her future. However, although these were themes common to poets of both English and French expression, the obvious differences between the Francophone poets and the Anglophone writers of the 1930s and 1940s have been generally noted. Because of the intensity with which they felt their physical exile from Africa, coupled with their exposure to the experimental contemporary modes of writing in F
