Maradona's lawyer gives important update on his client following hernia operation

Argentina legend Diego Maradona is recovering from hospital following a successful operation from hernia.

His lawyer who made the announcement said that the surgery was conducted to stop internal bleeding caused by the ailment.

The 58-year-old and World Cup winner discovered the problem during a routine check up in January and had an operation to stem the bleeding in his stomach.

"Maradona's surgical procedure is over. Thank God everything went perfectly," Matias Morla said on Twitter.

The former Napoli midfielder was due to fly to Mexico to join his second division side Dorados de Sinaloa, before doctors discovered the bleeding.

Morla said Maradona would return to join his Mexican club for a second spell when his recuperation is complete.
