Man United star doubtful for Tottenham clash after limping off against Reading

- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful Alexis Sanchez did not suffer any setback to his hamstring ahead of Tottenham game

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is optimistic Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez will not suffer any setback to his hamstring ahead of Tottenham cracker after limping off during the Red Devils 2-0 win over Reading.

According to UK Metro report citing BT Sport, Sanchez was in top form during the FA Cup third-round tie, and his first start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as two first half goals sealed victory for United.

Spanish star Juan Mata netted the opener from the spot in the 22nd minute and added the second in the closing moments of the first stanza off a Sanchez assist for Romelu Lukaku.

However, 19 minutes into the second stanza, Sanchez went down in a fall holding his right leg with Marcus Rashford taking his place on the pitch.

Speaking about Sanchez’s injury situation after the encounter, Solskjaer told BT Sport that he will be assessed, but remains hopeful he will be okay ahead of to their EPL clash away at Tottenham next weekend.

“I think he’ll be okay but he was tired and hopefully it’s not a bad reaction.

‘We’ll see ahead of next week [Spurs match],” he said, even as he expressed his concern about the injury in his post-match press conference.

“I hope it’s [Alexis injury] not going to be too bad – it’s the same hamstring that he’s been having trouble with but we’ll see.

“I wish Alexis had told me [about his injury] a minute earlier. I just made two subs.

‘He’s happy that he’s got through 60 minutes.

‘He’s been out for over a month and only played 20 minutes at Newcastle. He’ll be fine,” Solskjaer submitted.
