The 48-year-old has closed the gap on Spanish rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona since arriving at the club seven years ago.

He has led the club to one La Liga title, two Champions League finals and two Europa League trophies.

Simeone's impressive record is gradually breaking up and it is hard for Atleti to rival Barca in particular in the domestic game.
