Man City destroy Rotherham United to reach FA Cup fourth round

- Manchester City thrashed Rotterdam United 7-0 in their third round clash at Etihad after fielding a strong team

- Raheem Sterling scored the opening goal before Phil Foden's goal and Semi Ajayi's own-goal saw City go into the break on 3-0.lead.

- The quartet of Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane scored in the second stanza to see City cruise to a 7-0 win

Raheem Sterling netted the opening goal as Manchester City thrashed Rotterdam United 7-0 in their third round clash at Etihad on Sunday, January 6, 2019.

The encounter which saw the Pep Guardiola tutored-side continue from where they left off in Thursday night's Premier League clash against Liverpool.

With just 12 minutes into the game, Sterling put the home-side in the lead, after converting an assist from Kevin De Bruyne.

Surprisingly, after conceding the first goal of the game, Rotherham holding their own, with City missing a numbers of chance to increase their lead.

However, on the 43rd minute England youngster Phil Foden netted the second goal for City to make 2-0.

And moments after Nigeria-born Semi Ajayi scored an own-goal against his side Rotherham as he tired stopping City from causing more havoc.

Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus was on hand to score his first goal of the game and City fourth in 53rd minute.

The duo of Riyad Mahrez and Nicolas Otamendi added their names among after scoring in the 73rd and 78th minute respectively.

But in the 85th minute Leroy Sane applied the finish after scoring the seventh goal of the game.

A performance that saw the Premier League defending champions destroy Rotherham United 7 – 0 in a one-side contest to progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Chelsea defeated lowly-ranked Nottingham Forest 2-0 in a tough clash FA Cup clash played at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, January 5.

Under-fire Spanish forward Alvaro Morata netted the two goals to gift the Blues the crucial victory.

Nottingham came into the match in fine form, having bounced back to winning ways with a 4-2 triumph over Leeds United on New Year's Day.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
