Speaking moments after the game, Guardiola insists the defending champions are waiting for a slip by the Reds to regain the top spot, even as he assured his side have learnt from their past mistakes.
"We cannot play the games against Liverpool so we cannot do anything about their games all we can do is win our games,” he said. “We can control what we can do.
“We have to be there and maybe one day they will fall. If they don’t win they will be champions. We have done incredible numbers so far but they are one team who have done better.
“We have to be there until the end. And the results will dictate who will win.

“When you have a league campaign, you can drop points. We weren't in our excellent moments against Leicester and Crystal Palace but it is normal, and we came back in the games after by creating chances and conceding few,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
The encounter also saw Wolves’ defender Willy Boly sent off for rough challenge on Bernardo Silva after 19th minute.
And the Spaniard tactician was not happy his side did not show enough aggressiveness to finish off the 10-man Wolves with more goals margin.
“We have played a lot of time with ten against 11 and we should be more aggressive in our attacking play.
“They defend deep with 10 men so it is not easy even with one more player. We have to be more aggressive to put the ball in the box. Kevin [de Bruyne] came on and crossed the ball 10 times. That is the way we have to play [in that situation].
"If it is pass, pass, pass it is more difficult. But we have a lot of matches in our minds and our legs,” added Guardiola, who would not comment on Boly's marching order, which did not go down well with a section of Wolves fans.

“It was very close to me and it was a red card,” he said.
“The red card changed the game. But you do not make a game plan with one less man. The red card makes the task much harder,” Guardiola submitted.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Manchester City defeated Wolves 3-0 to keep their Premier League title challenge on track at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night.
The 21-year-old striker Gabriel Jesus powered the Citizens ahead just ten minutes into the game after sliding to tap in Leroy Sane's cross.
Wolves were reduced to ten men in the 19th minute following the red card issued to Willy Boly by referee Craig Pawson following a rough challenge on Bernando Silva.
