Late Aguiyi-Ironsi's wife speaks on 2019 election, drums support for Atiku

- Wife of late Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi has spoken on the forthcoming presidential election

- Madam Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi said she will work with the wife of the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu to the deliver the state to the Peoples Democratic Party

- Victoria also promised to mobilise women of the state for the PDP ahead of the 2019 general election

The wife of Nigeria's firsts head of state, late Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, has added her voice to the ongoing beats for the 2019 general election.

Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi promised to work with Nkechi Caroline Ikpeazu, the wife of the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu to the deliver the state to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Speaking on Wednesday, January 16, at a special town hall meeting organised for Abia women by the PDP, Victoria said she will lead the fight to a better Nigeria in Abia state.

She also promised to mobilise women of the state for the PDP ahead of the 2019 general election.

Victoria said: "I will lead this fight in Abia, and I promise you that you will never regret it. I will lead Abia women to vote for Atiku."

Joined by Madam Victoria, women at the meeting took turns to assure PDP of victory while calling for adequate women empowerment and appointments.

One of the participants said: "The PDP government was the one that produced Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Dora Akunyili and I'm aware Atiku was part of the government then, we urge him to do more for women in his government to sustain the legacy of PDP, so we won't be relegated to the background as APC government is doing."

In her reaction, Jennifer Abubakar, a wife to PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar assured Abia women of favourable positions should he husband win the forthcoming presidential election scheduled to hold on February 16.

Also addressing the women while receiving Jennifer, the second deputy chairman, Abia state council of Ndi-Eze, HRM Eze Elder S.A. Okorie said: "Abia is a very peaceful state being controlled by the PDP. We also need a PDP President, a president that can stop cows from eating up all our crops in the farm."

On his part, HRM Eze Kalu Kalu Ogburu Enachioke of Abiriba, eulogized the PDP presidential candidate, describing him as a detrabilised Nigerian who has his goodwill spread across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

"Atiku came to my community in Abiriba in 1992 to donate to the less privileged, we are going to reciprocate it this time around, by mobilising for his election. Atiku is a destabilized Nigerian," he said. 

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Atiku Abubakar, had visited the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, during his campaign trip to Osun state.

Atiku said his visit to the Ooni’s palace is to pay his respect to the Ile Ife kingdom.
