The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), through its chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, on Tuesday, January advised youths in the country to avoid being used by politicians to interfere with the coming polls.
Speaking to the INEC Youth Ambassadors (IYA) Yakubu, said that violence related to election should be avoided in its entirety, Daily Trust reports.

Adding that youths in the country make up about 81% of the total number of registered voters (80,004,084), the INEC boss said: “Don’t be mobilized for doing the wrong things by people whose feature is already determined. The future is yours not for those who may wish for all manner of reasons to mobilize you in the wrong direction.”
Yakubu explained that although the use of mobile phone was banned at voting units, people are allowed to use their gadgets in the vicinities of polling centres.
“After the election, I will encourage you to snap pictures of the EC60E and for those of you who engage in vote tabulation you can easily tabulate and have an idea on the outcome of the election, even before INEC make declaration,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reporte that INEC had announced the names of 144 observers that would monitor the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
In an announcement made on its website on Sunday, January 27, the commission said the list includes 116 local observers and 28 foreign observers.
Legit.ng gathered that INEC, however, threatened to cancel and withdraw the accreditation of any organisation if the code of conduct was breached by any of its members or agents.
