Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe who recently turned 41, has addressed the rumour that she had an affair with a serving governor. The actress was accused of being involved in the scandal after she bought a mansion.

The rumour went viral after a cryptic post identified Aigbe as an actress who had a secret affair with a married governor. The post had claimed that Aigbe was introduced to the governor by a friend.

However, the actress debunked the rumour at her 41st birthday celebration in Toronto, Canada. She expressed that people started making claims because they do not know the source of her success.

In a video which has gone viral on Instagram, Aigbe was spotted saying that she has nothing to do with the said governor, adding that she has never met him.

The 41-year-old who stated that she has no idea how the rumour began, prayed that God would continue to protect people's secrets.
