Chelsea urged to ‘splash the cash' to re-sign former star ahead of AC Milan's Higuain

Premier League side Chelsea have been urged to ‘splash the cash’ to re-sign former striker Diego Costa and stop flirting around with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema.

According to a UK Metro report citing Peter Crouch’s column for the Daily Mail, the former Premier League star insists Blues chiefs must look at the possibility of re-signing Costa, who left Stamford Bridge under strange circumstance in 2018.

Chelsea did not start the 2018-19 season poorly, but the Maurizio Sarri tutored-side are now ten points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

At the last count, Eden Hazard has netted ten of Chelsea’s 38 league goals this season, with the pair of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud struggling in front of goal.

A performance that has seen Sarri eager to sign a new striker window.

“Chelsea have scored the fewest goals of the top six sides,” Crouch stressed in a column for the Daily Mail.

A return of 38 from 21 matches isn’t enough to win you a title, no matter how good your defence is.

“The one thing you need is someone to score you 30 goals and they do not have a player like Harry Kane, Mo Salah or Sergio Aguero.

“Not so long ago, they did. Diego Costa would absolutely transform Chelsea’s fortunes and, if it was down to me, I’d break the bank to re-sign him.

“You can talk about Gonzalo Higuain or Karim Benzema, but I think Costa would be the one to take Chelsea where they want to be.

“There was something about the way Costa’s career finished at Stamford Bridge that doesn’t sit right. I know there were huge problems between him and Antonio Conte, but even so, it seemed like they didn’t put up any kind of fight to keep him,” Crouch added.

Interestingly, in 120 games for Chelsea, Costa netted 59 times as the Blues claimed win two Premier League titles and the FA Cup before heading back to Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported that Chelsea are close to sealing a swap deal for AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain on loan as Alvaro Morata heads to the San Siro.

According to a UK Sun report Blues manager Maurizio Sarri has lost faith with Morata, with Eden Hazard now playing as ‘False 9’ for Chelsea.

The 26-yer-old Spaniard has struggled for form since his £65m arrival at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid in 2017.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
