Chelsea target tipped to replace Fabregas at Stamford Bridge shuns Blues as he joins PSG

- Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Leandro Daniel Paredes from Zenit St Petersburg

- The 25-year-old has penned a four-and-a-half year deal at the French Ligue 1 champions

- The Argentine midfielder has been handed the No 8 shirt at the Parc des Princes

Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of Leandro Daniel Paredes from Zenit St. Petersburg.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, the 25-year-old Argentine midfielder penned a four-and-a-half year contract with PSG, until June 30, 2023, after undergoing medical at Aspetar hospital, Doha.

Paredes started his career back home in Buenos Aires region for local club Boca Juniors.

After winning the Championship and Cup of Argentina in 2011 and 2012 back home in Argentina he moved to Serie A side Roma where he played 54 games in three seasons between 2014—2017.

Paredes moved to Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg in the summer of 2017.

The Argentine international Paredes played 61 games, netting 10 times along with 15 assists in all competitions.

He has been handed the No. 8 jersey at PSG.

“I feel a lot of pride when I reach Paris Saint-Germain, " said Leandro Paredes after signing his contract.

“After my previous experiences in Italy and Russia, I now have this fantastic opportunity, not only to discover a new football, but especially one of the most prestigious jerseys in the world. I thank the president and coach for the trust they place in me by recruiting me.

“We all know the extraordinary sporting dimension of Paris Saint-Germain, its players and its staff. I share with them the same high ambitions and I will do everything to give my club what it expects of me as a midfielder. I cannot wait to taste the passionate atmosphere of Parc des Princes. "

On the other hand, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, was excited after signing the Argentine star, who was repeatedly linked with Chelsea in the ongoing winter transfer season.

"We are very pleased to welcome Leandro Paredes to the Paris Saint-Germain family today," said Al-Khelaïfi.

“Leandro carries with him the traditional strengths of Argentinian football, a combativeness of all times and very good technical qualities.

“He will bring a lot to our midfielder and I am sure he will quickly blend into the well-organized and ambitious collective of our coach.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Chelsea are now on the verge of signing Leandro Paredes from Zenit Saint Petersburg after the 24-year-old Argentine agreed personal terms with the Blues.

Should his Russian club agree to let him go to the Premier League, then Leandro Paredes is expected to replace Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas who has joined Monaco.

But Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has been left disappointed by the news that Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella is reluctant to move mid-season according to the report by Mirror.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
