Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has reached out to Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain concerning the last-minute delay with his switch to Stamford Bridge.

According to Metro report citing Sky Sport Italia, Sarri, who was keen on having Higuain play against Arsenal on Saturday assured the 31-year-old that the deal will be sealed in the coming week.

Sarri managed Higuain at Serie A Napoli and is now closing in on a reunion with the forward after Chelsea reportedly sealed a loan deal with Juventus for the 2018-19 season.

A further breakdown of the agreement reach could also see the west London outfit extent the contract for an addition I year.

However, AC Milan, who landed the Argentine on a season-long loan deal last summer are not ready to let him go without finding a capable replacement.

But reports coming out of the Italian topflight meanwhile, claim the Rossneri are still now in talks with Genoa over a £31m deal for Krzystof Piatek, who has netted 13 times in Serie A this term.

And Sky Sport Italia confirmed Sarri while speaking with Higuain on Friday evening informed him that his move to Chelsea ‘is only a matter of days’.

The Blues were eager to complete Higuain’s deal on Friday in time for Saturday's Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates.

However, with the latest delay the former Real Madrid forward is now expected to arrive London early on Tuesday, to sign the dotted lines after his mandatory medicals..

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud has declared he is unhappy at Stamford Bridge 12 months after arriving west London from Emirates.

According to a UK Sun report citing ESPN, Giroud, who was a member of France’s Les Bleus that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is bitter after featuring in just six Premier League matches for Chelsea this campaign.

At the last count, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has turned Eden Hazard into a striker leaving out Giroud on the bench and is also closing in on signing Gonzalo Higuain this window.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID.
