Reports have emerged that the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia state, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, has reportedly been abducted by suspected kidnappers.
The state publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Benedict Godson, told Daily Trust on Tuesday morning, January 29, that Nwankpa had been kidnapped by unknown persons.
The kidnap of the state APC chairman is coming ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s to the state as part of his re-election campaign.

Legit.ng had reported that Geoffrey Ogbonna, the police public relations officer of the Abia command, said that no fewer than 1,000 officers and men had been deployed in Aba, the commercial hub of the state, ahead Buhari's visit
Ogbonna disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) in Umuahia on Monday, while speaking on the command’s level or preparedness for the president’s visit . He said that the police personnel would be assigned to strategic locations in the city to provide adequate security and ensure a hitch-free visit by the president.

He said that there would be restriction of vehicular movement on the routes mapped out for the movement of the president’s motorcade, beginning from about 7am to 2pm.
Meanwhile, Buhari, had on Monday, January 28, urged the security agencies and the traditional rulers to work towards ensuring a violence free and credible election.
Speaking at the 10th general assembly of the National Council of Traditional Rulers in Nigeria (NCTRN) in Abuja, the president blew hot, adding that the government will not tolerate any attempt to cause public disturbance and violence in the election through reckless speeches, Vanguard reports.
The president, who noted that traditional rulers have a great impact in the coming election, urged the monarchs to use their position to ensure the presence of peace and security in the country during the 2019 general election.
