Atiku reacts as Amaechi denies viral audio recording credited to him

- Rotimi Amaechi has reacted to the viral leaked audio tape where he was alleged to have criticized President Buhari

- The minister of transportation says he is not aware of the audio recording

- PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abukakar has given his thoughts on the audio circulating on social media

Minister of transportation and director-general of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed an audio recording where he was alleged to have criticized President Muhammadu Buhari.

In the audio which has now gone viral on social media, Amaechi was quoted to have said President Buhari do not read newspapers or listen to news on the economic situation in the country.

“The president does not listen to anybody. He doesn’t care. You can write what you want to write. Does he read? I was flying with him in an aircraft and we saw a news report where a goat seller was complaining that he couldn’t sell his goats during Sallah because of he Buhari’s administration. And the president said what’s my business with goat sellers?” the minister allegedly said in the audio that is yet to verified for authenticity.

When he was asked by Daily Sun for his comments on the audio, Amaechi said: “Nothing. I am not aware of any audio recording.”

Further told that the audio was gaining momentum on different online websites, Amaechi asked: “Do I do website?”

Meanwhile, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said that the trending leaked audio recordings alleged to be the voice of Amaechi, has confirmed that voting Buhari for a second term in office means bringing starvation to Nigerians.

Atiku also said that the recording has revealed the minister as confirming that Nigeria “was beyond redemption because the country was yet to find a leader that can confront the enormous challenges facing it.”

He continued: “Truth is, the president has established a record of failures which probably no other president would ever equal or erase.

“Mrs Aishat Buhari was partially correct when she stated that two people are preventing her husband from performing well. With this audio tape, if the two don’t include her husband then she is not completely being truthful.”

In another development, trouble is brewing in the Adamawa state chapter of the APC ahead of the 2019 general elections as a chieftain of the party, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has vowed never to campaign for the state governor, Jibrilla Bindow.

Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission was recently appointed as the director, fields operations in the Buhari campaign council.

He had pulled put of the Adamawa governorship race under the APC last year, accusing the governor of manipulating the mode of the party's primary elections.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
