Anti-party: Strong moves from APC reportedly underway against Amosun, Okorocha

- The APC is reportedly planning to suspend the duo of Ibikunle Amosun and Rochas Okorocha over alleged anti-party politics

- While Okorocha supports Uche Nwosu of the AA, Amosun is campaigning for Adekunle Akinlade of the APC

- The move against Okorocha is believed to be championed by APC members in Imo state

Worried by the activities of Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunke Amosun, governors of Imo and Ogun states respectively, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, is reportedly set to sanction them with suspension.

The two governors are members of the APC, but have partially pitched tents with different political parties in moves to make their anointed candidates emerge as governors in the respective states.

While Okorocha’s anointed, Uche Nwosu, a son-in-law of the governor defected from the APC to the Action Alliance (AA) to contest for the seat, Amosun’s backed Adekunle Akinlade moved with other candidates in Ogun to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The two governors have openly declared their supports for the candidates but said they would campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 presidential election, a situation that has not gone well with the APC.

One of the moves against Okorocha, Vanguard has reported, is the pressure on Aisha, the wife of President Buhari, to withdraw Nkechi Okorocha, from the 99-man advisory council for the women and youth presidential campaign team.

Okrocha’s wife was recently appointed as the south east coordinator for the organisation.

The move to suspend Okorocha, according to the report, is being championed by the Imo state chapter of the APC as well as some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

It was learnt that Okorocha landed himself in more trouble when he openly supported Nwosu during the visit of Aisha Buhari to Imo state recently.

“Rochas campaigned against the APC candidate during the women rally last Saturday. He is supporting AA and we know that the AA national chairman is also backing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku. So, APC sees this as a deceit.

“The same thing will happen in Ogun state as the APC leadership will not tolerate such acts at all.

“The APC sees their action as an insult to Mr President who is the leader of the party. The AA national chairman cannot be supporting Atiku, while they are supporting AA. They cannot fool the party,” a top member of the APC reportedly said.

The report said Governor Okorocha’s spokesperson, Sam Onwuemeodo, dismissed the move as rumour saying this had been in circulation for about five months.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that the leadership of the APC recently expressed concern over the decision of Ibikunle Amosun and Rochas Okorocha to work against the party in their states in their governorship elections.

Galadima, an ardent critic of President Muhammadu Buhari, claimed that he did not borrow money or have unpaid debt with Unity Bank, which lodged a complaint against him and occasioned AMCON’s move on Tuesday. The properties taken over include House No. 15, Addis Ababa Crescent, Wuse Zone 4, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and House No. 4, Bangui Street, Wuse 2, also in Abuja.  Reacting to the situation, Galadima said, “This is an attempt to disgrace and break me down.
