The United States of America embassy has said that its Abuja and Lagos consulate general offices would remain open despite a government shutdown.
The embassy said that all consular businesses including visa appointments and interviews will take place at these offices.
The US further advised those you already had appointments or scheduled interview to attend their in the consulate offices.

The statement which was posted on its official Facebook page said: "U.S. Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos remain open for for all consular business, including visa interviews. Please attend your regularly scheduled interview."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the US had announced closure of its embassies in Nigeria over the government shutdown in the country.
The US embassy Nigeria in a statement on its official Facebook page said all its centres located in the embassy in Abuja and consulate general in Lagos will remain closed.

According to the statement, the embassies would only re-open when the US government shutdown is resolved.
"Due to the current US government shutdown, the American Centers located in the Embassy, Abuja and Consulate General, Lagos are unfortunately closed. They will re-open once the U.S. government shutdown is resolved. Sorry for any inconvenience to our valued patrons," the US embassy said.
