2019: Why Atiku travelled to USA - Obi

- Peter Obi, running mate to Alhaji Abubakar Atiku in next month’s presidential election, has spoken his principal’s visit to Washinton DC, USA

- Obi on Friday, January 18, declared that Atiku traveled to the USA not because of anybody

- The former governor said the ex-vice president's trip is about engaging partners because he wants to hit the ground running without wasting unnecessary time

Peter Obi, the running mate to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, January 18, disclosed that his principal’s visit to Washinton DC in the USA was not to prove any point to anyone.

The Nation reports that Obi who made this known at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos said Atiku traveled to USA based on the necessity.

He said: “Though he does over 90% of his consultations at home and among Nigerians, but now and then, he has to travel to meet different groups, especially those that will be of assistance in the new Nigerian project.”

Obi claimed that Atiku was pre-occupied on how to create jobs, reduce unemployment in Nigeria, abolish poverty and re-create the Nigerian economy in order to make Nigeria to start working again.

He said: “His trip is about engaging partners because he wants to hit the ground running without wasting unnecessary time.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the United States Bureau of African Affairs reportedly said that the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was listed as an aide of Senate president Bukola Saraki.

In a tweet by Lauretta Onochie, a media aide to President Buhari, the Bureau of African Affairs which is part of the US Department of State and which is charged with advising the Secretary of State on matters of Sub-Saharan Africa, was quoted to have said Atiku was in Washington DC on diplomatic arrangements.

It was gathered that the Bureau of African Affairs was quoted to have said that Atiku was booked for the visit to the U.S as an ‘aide’ to Nigeria’s Senate president Bukola Saraki.

“We cannot apprehend Atiku because of our diplomatic ties with Nigeria, he’s being booked as an ‘aide’ to Nigeria’s Senate president,” AF said.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year. This did not however, materialize. According to the release, the project will have a four to five-year execution time after the signing of the FID. Former Maritime Agency Boss, Buba Galadima, Accuses AMCON Of Witch-hunt After Property Takeover
