Kaduna state deputy governor, Barnabas Bantex, has expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai will emerge victorious in the 2019 presidential and governorship elections respectively.

Bantex, who spoke on Saturday, January 12, during a campaign tour of Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf local government area of the state, said that the chances of APC winning the general election at the federal and state levels were high.

He said that the APC was only waiting to celebrate the outcome.

He, however, enjoined the people of the area to come out en masse and throw their support behind Buhari, El-Rufai and all other APC candidates vying for legislative positions at the state and national levels.

Bantex is the senatorial flag bearer of the APC for Kaduna South senatorial district.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor El-Rufai said there are over a million Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) yet to be collected in the state.

El-Rufai made the statement when traders of the popular Kaduna textile market, Kasuwan Barci, paid him a visit at the government house in Kaduna to back his second term bid.

The governor urged the traders to help in sensitising their members and the general public to approach INEC to collect their cards.

El-Rufai cautioned electorates against surrendering their PVC or its details to people going round, saying the motive of the opposition party was to clone and invalidate their PVCs.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
