- Former governor of Oyo state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said that the opposition parties in the state would team up to defeat APC in the forthcoming election
- Alao-Akala said the APC has failed the people of the state and that the party would be defeated at the polls
- The ADP governorship candidate also noted that he left N110b in the government's covers while he was handing over to Ajimobi in 2011
The former governor of Oyo state and gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Party (ADP) for 2019 general elections, Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said the opposition parties in the state would team up to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Legit.ng regional reporter in Oyo, Imran Khalid, reports that while featuring on Fresh FM 105.9, a radio station in Ibadan on Monday, January 21, Alao-Akala, said the opposition parties in the state would team up to defeat the ruling APC.
He said the mistake of splitting without cohesion and unity made in 2015 general elections by the oppositions would not repeat itself as state moves closer to 2019 general elections.

Akala said the leading gladiators in the respective opposition parties were working assiduously to ensure that alliance works among one another.
While reiterating his commitment to 2019 general elections, Akala noted that APC could not win the state as work among opposition parties was in progress to reclaim the state from APC-led administration, adding that he would not disclose the opposition parties' permutations and strategies on air.
On amount he left in state's treasury, the former governor said he left the sum of one hundred and ten billion Naira (N110b) in government's covers, adding that he had all evidences to substantiate his claim.
He noted that anybody who doubts his claims has right to challenge him, asking Governor Abiola Ajimobi to present the duplicate and original copies of handover note he presented in 2011 while leaving the office.
Akala said despite all bail outs received in tranches from the federal government, Ajimobi would leave the state in debt, considering the huge amount of money he had lent both at home and in diasporas on behalf of Oyo state.
On traditional heritage, Alao-Akala said the candidates that had no regard for cultural heritage, tradition and traditional institutions should not be voted for, adding that the state remained a pacesetter in cultural heritage as anyone that would be voted for should be someone who understands the traditions and values.
As elections approach, he enjoined the people of Oyo state to vote according to their consciences so as to bring on-board a cerebral personality who knows the nitty gritty of governance.
