The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to return to his home in Daura and take a deserved rest at the end of his tenure.

The opposition party gave the advice when responding to Buhari’s plea on Monday, December 17, for more time to fix the nation shortly after a special parade organised in his honour by the guards brigade of the Nigerian Army to celebrate his 76th birthday.

The national publicity secretary of the PDP told the Punch that President Buhari had done what he could do, but unfortunately, his best was not good enough for the country.

The party urged the president to heed his doctors advice to rest, eat and sleep more. The PDP said that the county needs a president who could work tirelessly to get the nation working.

He told Nigerians about four years ago that old age would slow him down. I’m not sure he is getting younger since he said that. The same President also said that his doctors had asked him to rest, eat and sleep more. As much as he needs all these, we need to tell him that the country cannot afford such a leader at this critical time when all hands must be on deck,” the PDP said.

“We have a high number of unemployed youths, citizens and soldiers are being killed by terrorists, the roads are bad, the economy is bad and the President who had been asked to be sleeping is asking for more time. Ask him, more time to do what?."

Meanwhile, Femi Adesina, the special assistant to the President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, says the president is ”a movement for better Nigeria.”

NAN reports that Adesina said this on Monday, December 17, during a love feast for Buhari, organised by members of the Buhari Support Organisation to commemorate the 76th birthday of the president in Abuja.

Legit.ng gathers that he told the gathering that Buhari had enjoyed unflinching support, love and loyalty from Nigerians because they believed in his ability to deliver the Nigeria of their dreams.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
