Legit.ng gathered that the trucks conveying the relief materials were set ablaze. However, the troops however fought gallantly and maneuvered the attackers and inflicted heavy casualties on them.

Unfortunately, a soldier paid the supreme price during the encounter, while another was wounded in action. A Cobra Armoured Personnel Carrier and a truck belonging to the unit were damaged.

Similarly, the troops have recovered bodies of some of the neutralised terrorists, large quantity of ammunition and 8 Rocket Propelled Grenades Charges. The troops have since been reinforced and normalcy has been brought to the general area.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, advised all officers to remain apolitical and remain so during the 2019 general elections “to avoid grave consequences”.

Buratai gave the advice at the opening of “Commander Corps of Engineers Fourth Quarter 2018 Conference” holding at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineers (NASME) headquarters in Makurdi.

Buhari’s Legacy Of Recessions By Fredrick Nwabufo

Fredrick Nwabufo ‘Why always Buhari?’ As it was in 1984 under General Buhari, so it is in 2016 and 2020 under President Buhari? Is it by the unfortunate hands of kismet that recession hits Nigeria every time Buhari takes charge of the country’s affairs? If the recession of the 80s under Buhari was a conspiracy by economic and political factors, to what do we attribute that of his first coming as a civilian President — and now in his second coming? Why does pestilence scourge the land, hunger ravage the population and lives lost malevolently when Buhari presides over the country? Why always Buhari? Buhari’s undoing is his wonted predilection for hierarchising ethnicity, religion and loyalty above competence. Since 1999, no President has obtrusively shown a more nepotistic aspect than Buhari. It is unarguable that the President arrays the most competence-challenged cabinet ever in the chronicle of governance in Nigeria. Yes, a recession cabinet. Fredrick Nwabufo Here is a cabin...
