Super Falcons get tough draw at 2019 Women's World Cup in France

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will battle host France after the African champions landed in Group A of the 2019 Women's World Cup.

The nine-time African champions will also tackle South Korea and Norway during next year's tournament in France.

Interestingly, the Falcons won a ninth continental title out of 11 editions last weekend, beating South Africa on penalties in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations final - and will also face South Korea and Norway at next year's global showpiece event.

On the other hand, South Africa’s Bayana Bayana will battle Germany, China and Spain, in Group B.

Africa’s third representatives Cameroon are to face the trio of drawn Canada, New Zealand and the Netherlands in Group E.

The tournament’s defending champions the United States will play in Group F alongside Sweden, Thailand and Chile.

And Group C will see debutants Jamaica square up against Australia, Italy and Brazil

Group D, have the quartet of England, Scotland, Argentina and Japan battle for honours

The opening game of the 2019 Fifa Women's World will see hosts France tackle South Korea on June 7 in Paris.

The tournament is scheduled to hold from June 7 to July 7 in France.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously had reported Nigeria’s Super Falcons dropped one spot, from 38th to 39th, in the latest edition of FIFA Women’s World Ranking (WWR), released on Friday, December 7.

According to FIFA’s official website, the reigning African Women’s Cup of Nations holders, who claimed a record 9th AWCON title in Ghana accumulated 19 points after winning four from five games at the tournament in Ghana.

A further breakdown of the Women’s ranking revealed that the Thomas Dernnerby tutored-side had a total 1,607 points to emerge Africa’s best team and 39th in the world.
