PDP spreading fake news about my relationship with Aisha Buhari - Oshiomhole alleges

The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of trying to cause problems in the ruling party through the spread of fake news.

Oshiomhole made the accusation when reacting to alleged malicious information on social media about his relationship with the president’s wife, Aisha Buhari, The Nation reports.

The APC chairman in a statement through his chief press secretary, Simon Egbegbulem, alleged that the PDP is planning to cause disaffection within the ruling party ahead of the 2019 general elections through the spread of fake news.

“Our attention has been drawn to the malicious and misleading statement credited to Oshiomhole against the person of the First Lady in the social media,” the statement read in part.

“We want to state that it is the handiwork of mischief-makers. At no fora did the National Chairman made such uncomplimentary remarks against the person of the First Lady.

“This is part of the fake news from the pit of hell being propagated by highly unscrupulous elements of the PDP and their cohorts, knowing fully well that they have lost the forthcoming general election."

The party said any the opposition had failed to cause disaffection among APC members, noting that Aisha Buhari, Oshiomhole and other party members were in a cordial relationship.

The APC urged the public to disregard the misleading comment currently on the social media, saying it is fake and untrue.

“The tiger cannot change its spots, as the saying goes. PDP has chosen to remain the lying party it has always been,” the APC said.

Meanwhile, the Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has said the time has come for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to become president of Nigeria.

The governor made the comment at government House, Makurdi, on Tuesday, December 11, during a courtesy call on him by the north central women unite for Atiku, led by its president, Dorcas Din.

He said it is time for Atiku to lead Nigeria, stressing that all things were working towards the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate's success.

According to the governor, Atiku has the capacity to provide purposeful leadership for Nigerians as well as dethrone economic sabotage and imminent collapse of institutions under the present administration.
