None of our members defected to APC, other parties in Ekiti - PDP

- The PDP in Ekiti state has debunked reports that its members defected to the APC or other parties

- The opposition party challenged APC to name the defectors and the offices they occupied in Ayodele Fayose’s government

- PDP, however, said it is true that the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Adeniran Alagbada, invited all past political office holders from 2004 till date to a meeting

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state on Wednesday, December 13, declared that non of its members defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), or any other parties in recent time.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the PDP made this known while reacting to a media report that over 500 political office holders under Fayose’s government quit the opposition party in the state.

The opposition party, however, challenged the APC to name the defectors and the offices they occupied in Ayodele Fayose’s government.

This is contained in a statement by the publicity secretary of the PDP in the state, Jackson Adebayo.

The statement read: “It is true that the speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly, Adeniran Alagbada, invited all past political office holders from 2004 till date to a meeting at the state pavilion.”

''They were invited to the “open place at Fajuyi roundabout for discussion on the arrears they were being owed by the government and how the payment would be made.

“The meeting, which was attended by politicians across the board, became an avenue to lure members of our party and others to join APC which was rejected vehemently, while the issue of the payment of the arrears was not addressed with any seriousness by the government officials present there.''

Adebayo also claimed the party has only been receiving defectors from APC since the emergence of Abubakar Atiku as the Presidential candidate of the party.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that mass defection hit the PDP in Ekiti as elected and appointed political office holders at the local government levels under the immediate past government led by Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday, December 11, reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress.

he Punch reports that the defectors numbering about 500 from across the 16 council areas of the state included political office holders during Fayose’s first and second terms in office.

Kehinde Aduloju from Ado local government spoke on behalf of the defectors at the event which was held at Government House Pavilion.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
