Nigeria will begin export of NPK fertiliser soon - FESPAN secretary

- The executive secretary of Fertilizer Producers Association of Nigeria, Ahmed Rabiu Kwa, said Nigeria will soon start exporting fertilisers to neigbbouring countries

- Rabiu Kwa added that his association, in partnership with the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative, has created between 250-300 jobs between 2017 and 2018

The executive secretary, Fertilizer Producers Association of Nigeria (FESPAN), Ahmed Rabiu Kwa, has disclosed that Nigeria will begin export of NPK fertilizer very soon.

The FESPAN secretary announced this while speaking at a one-day productivity improvement training for 80 registered distributors, Daily Trust reports.

He said the aim of the training is basically to build the capacity of registered distributors on financial literacy and proper record keeping.

Rabiu Kwa said that the association in collaboration with the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI) has created between 250-300 jobs between 2017 and 2018.

“The federal government has banned the importation of NPK into the country and this is a plus to domestic blending plants, and Urea now available to all blending plants in the country.

“Nigeria now only imports about 30% of raw materials to blend NPK and very spoon, the country will be exporting NPK to neighbouring countries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that FESPAN donated N570million for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The president of FESPAN, Thomas Etuh, announced this on Wednesday, December 19, during a Gala night organised by the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

At the event attended by President Muhammadu Buhari and a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, among others, Etuh said the money was contributions for the re-election of President Buhari.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
