President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, December 20, urged the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and other security agents to ensure that there is no incidence of ballot box snatching and other related crimes during the 2019 general polls, Vanguard reports.

Buhari gave the charge as he delivered an address at the graduation ceremony of 600 assistant superintendent of police cadets from the force's academy, who concluded the 2017, 602 courses.
He further called on the new officers to live up to expectations by putting to practice what they learned during the training.

Buhari said: “I urge you to be worthy of your studies in discharging your duties and be courageous by ensuring peace and stability in the entire country as this would justify the huge amount spent on you while carrying out cadet training.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the police had been warned by Buhari against acts that could bring bring people in conflict with them, such as illegal detention, extrajudicial killings, torture and violation of fundamental human rights.
Malam Garba Shehu, President Buhari's senior special assistant on media and publicity, said the president gave the warning in an address at the convocation and passing out parade of the first regular cadet course at the police academy in Wudil, Kano state, on Thursday, December 20.
