The presidency has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari Sunday, December 9 received a condolence message from King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan over the loss of Nigerian soldiers in a recent Boko Haram attack.
Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina, who confirmed the message in a statement, said the Asian king also sent a message of assurance of support in the fight against terrorism while also praying for peace and calm in Nigeria, and throughout African region.

According to the statement, the message was delivered by King Abdullah himself via a telephone conversation with President Buahri.
The presidency said King Abdullah, who is from the Hashemite family of Jordan, also commended troops of the Nigerian army for their courage and resilience in the face of challenges in fighting extremist terrorism.
On his part, President Buhari thanked King Abdullah for his concern on the recent setbacks that led to the loss of military lives in the North East.

The statement added that Buhari assured that several measures had been discussed and were being implemented to steer the country from the unfortunate occurrence.
President Buhari also told King Abdullah that he would continue to work towards total elimination of terrorism in the Lake Chad basin area.

President Buhari commended King Abdullah for his support and steadfastness for the global effort against terrorism, describing the collaboration between Jordan and Nigeria, and the rest of Africa, through the platform of Aqaba Counter Terrorism Retreats, as very beneficial.
Several Nigerian soldiers died in a recent Boko Haram onslaught on a military base.
