Fact check: Did Joe igbokwe post fake picture of APC rally in Kano?

A picture of APC rally posted online is generating controversy. Some Nigerians have called out the publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state Joe Igbokwe for posting what they claim is a fake picture of the rally.

Checks by Legit.ng shows that the image drew similarity with another picture which source showed to be from a football match.

The controversial picture was posted by the APC chieftain on Saturday, December 8.

However, the allegation of posting fake picture came at a time the APC led federal government is trying to put an end to the menace of fake news in the country.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that an online viral image posted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supposedly showing dead Nigerian soldiers killed by Boko Haram in the Metele village attack was confirmed as fake and misleading.

The said attack on the 157 Task Force Battalion of the Nigerian Army took place on Sunday, November 18, by the insurgents in the northeast region of the country .

Concerning the tragedy, the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, on Wednesday, December 26, revealed that only 23 soldiers were killed and also put the number of troops wounded at 31.

NLNG Signs Letter Of Intent On Delayed Gas Expansion Project

The Nigerian Natural Liquefied Gas LTD has signed a letter of intent for the engineering, procurement and construction of its long held up Train Seven project. In a statement released by the company on Wednesday, it said that the $10bn project will be executed by a consortium of Italian firm Saipem, Japan’s Chiyoda and South Korea’s Daewoo. The statement reads, “The project will form part of the investment of over $10bn including the upstream scope of the LNG value chain, thereby boosting the much needed Foreign Direct Investment profile of Nigeria.” Managing Director of NLNG, Tony Atta, said in 2018 that the Final Investment Decision would be made in the fourth quarter of that year.
