Checkout how Sadio Mane incredibly came up with a new way to catch Romelu Lukaku offside

- Liverpool star Sadio Mane forces Man United forward Romelu Lukaku into an offside position

- A replay showed the Senegalese striker giving the Belgian a big push in a free-kick situation

- The Reds ran away with a comfortable 3-1 victory over their Premier League rivals at Anfield

Liverpool got the better of Manchester United over the weekend at Anfield and an offside call gave the Merseyside an edge.

Romelu Lukaku was caught in an offside position early on which would have resulted into a goal for the Red Devils.

In the fifth minute of the match, United captain Ashley Young, whipped in a free-kick that evaded everyone in the far post.

But Lukaku was clearly flagged offside by the assistant referee after the Belgian put the ball in the back of the net.

However, replay showed that the 27-year-old striker was pushed into that position by Sadio Mane and the tactic worked for Liverpool.

The same strategy was repeated by the Senegalese striker 20 minutes later but this time Mane put his side ahead in the match.

The 26-year-old was at the receiving end of a brilliant chip from Fabinho before chesting down the ball and firing past David De Gea in goal.

But it was substitute Xherdan Shaqiri who stole the headlines in the second half as he scored two goals within the space of eight minutes to seal the win for Anfield giants.

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,
