Amosun’s preferred governorship candidate begins campaign

- The Allied People’s Movement started its campaign in Ogun state ahead of the 2019 election

- The party's governorship candidate, Abdulkabir Akinlade, said injustice made him leave the APC

- Akinalde expressed optimism saying he has received a lot of support

The preferred governorship candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun state, Abdulkabir Akinlade, has started his campaign.

The Punch reports that Akinlade who is the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement began his campaign on Thursday, December 20 at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

Although Amosun was not at the event, it recorded a large turnout.

Akinlade said it was the injustice by the All Progressives Congress that led to his exit from the party.

He however expressed optimism in the coming election due to the support he was getting.

He claimed the people’s plan was to rubbish Amosun’s achievements and legacies and said his new party would fight for the people’s freedom and welfare.

He said: “We shall continue the good works of the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

“We have enough resources and they will be used for the welfare of the people.

“Ogun people have the right to choose their leaders without the input of anyone outside the state.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the national chairman of All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, lashed out at the governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, and his Ogun state counterpart, Ibikunle Amosun, calling them “emperors.”

Addressing a press conference on Friday, November 2, in Abuja, Oshiomhole, reacting to comments made by both governors on the outcome of APC primaries, specifically described Okorocha as “an embarrassment” to the APC.

Governor Okorocha had on Thursday, November 1, after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari, said the party chairman is destroying the party with his method of handling party primaries.
