Kano Governor, Ganduje, Promises To Increase Salaries Of Hisbah Officials Over Destruction Of N200m Alcohol In State

Following the destruction of about 1,975 bottles of beer estimated at N200m by the Kano State Hisbah Board in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has promised to increase the salaries of officials of the Islamic security outfit. Speaking during the destruction exercise at Kalebawa, Ganduje said the consumption of alcohol and all other intoxicants that can distort the mental capability of a person was forbidden in Islam. Young Nigerians in Delta State have asked the Nigerian Government to stop the prosecution and harassment of peaceful #EndSARS protesters and focus instead on governing the country. Lagos Experiences COVID-19 Spike With 255 New Cases

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control has confirmed 300 new cases of COVID-19 in the country. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with 255 while the FCT had 27 cases. Other states include Oyo with 10 cases, Kaduna with five, Ondo with two and Kano with one. Since the pandemic began, Nigeria has confirmed 64,090 cases, discharged 59,910 while 1,154 have died. The new numbers come a few days after Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General of the NCDC, warned that the second wave of COVID-19 may begin in the country owing to large gatherings that happened in major cities of Nigeria.
