Court Orders Stanbic IBTC To Return Petrol Station In Lagos To Ascon Oil

Ascon Oil Ltd has recovered a petrol retail station at Block 36, Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos purportedly sold by Stanbic IBTC Bank. The development followed a recent ruling by Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court, Lagos. The suit marked FHC/L/CS/567/2020, arose following a N1.7bn loan facility. It was gathered that the property with a market value of N2.5bn was undersold at N1.53bn through Stanbic IBTC’s receiver to one of its customers, Rainoil Ltd. Rainoil is one of Ascon’s competitors in the downstream sector and in 2019 while Stanbic IBTC was its banker, made a bid to acquire controlling shares in Ascon Oil. The property had been in the receiver’s possession following a May 15, 2020 ex-parte ruling by the same court authorising the takeover of the property and restrain Ascon from interfering with the receiver’s discharge of his functions. But on July 24, 2020, Justice Liman vacated that order after Ascon alleged non-disclosure and material misrepre

People Can Mourn Me The Way They Like When I Die, Says Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has said Nigerians can mourn him any way they like after his death, a report by Premium Times said. He also asked Nigerians criticising him over his comments on Kashamu to learn from the lives of the deceased and live well. Kashamu, before his death, was wanted in the United States of America for alleged drug offences but was able to escape extradition from Nigeria to the US to face his trial. Obasanjo said, “When I was growing up, in our community, when anyone known with bad character died, we usually only mourn him and bury him. No eulogy. No praise-singing. “There is an English saying that urges us never to talk ill of the dead. But in this case, we are not talking ill of the dead. We are only drawing lessons from the life and history of the dead. I am not gloating over his death.

Íké Gwùrù By Mariam Musa

Everywhere else, I’m a symbol of equality A perfect representation of impartiality A goddess who has no regards for wealth or power Who duly metes out justice by the hour All over the world, I am a beacon of hope and truth Who treats equally the aged and the youth Who does not discriminate against ethnicity or race And cares not about the colour of your face   But here, I’m the poster lady of a corrupt system An unwilling tool in the battle of supremacy Having no power to defeat or resist them A weapon used to silence the enemy   Here, I am a victim who lives in fear Of those who have ripped off my blindfold And asked me to be brazenly insincere To only do as I’m being told   Here, my sword is stained with the blood of the innocent My scales weigh heavy with guilt and regrets Here I am always part of an atrocious plan Never the hope of the common man   POETRY AddThis :  Featured Image :  Original Author :  Mariam Musa Disable advertisements :
