DCLM Daily Manna – A Ready Witness

DCLM Daily MannaTopic: A Ready Witness [DCLM Daily Manna 12 October 2019 Daily Devotional By Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi]

Text: Acts 8:26-40 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple” (Acts 9:26).

MESSAGE:

One of the greatest needs of this time is for Christians that the Lord can find ready and willing at any time He needs their attention and service. One sad thing that has befallen us today in Christendom is that we have become too busy and preoccupied with many activities that the Lord can hardly get our attention to speak to us and get us do His bidding. Agreed, what occupies the attention of most of us are right and legitimate things, but the sad consequence of these, is that those the Lord has commissioned us to save are daily slipping to unprepared eternity without our notice!

This is where the life of Philip the evangelist comes to us as a great challenge and a wakeup call. He was never deafened or insensitive to the Spirit of God. He was a ready, willing and available man for God’s use. Philip did not fail Him.

Can God get your attention when He needs it? Is it possible for the Lord to get you out of your busy pursuit and engagements so that you can run an errand for Him? Or are you so buried in your business that you cannot hear the cry of the dying world or the urging voice of the loving Saviour bidding you to go and help someone understand the way of salvation?

If we are going to be useful vessels that the Lord can use for emergency rescue missions, then we must be surrendered, willing, ready and open to the voice of the Spirit of God. Our vessels must be clean at all times and filled up with the Holy Spirit. If the Lord knows that we are willing and available for Him any time, then He will not hesitate to bring people who are ripe and ready for salvation our way. And what joy will be ours to have the privilege of leading such ones to the Lord!

Thought For The Day: God will only use a willing and ready heart; are you one?

The Transitional Phase of African Poetry

The Transitional Phase The second phase, which we have chosen to call transitional, is represented by the poetry of writers like Abioseh Nicol, Gabriel Okara, Kwesi Brew, Dennis Brutus, Lenrie Peters and Joseph Kariuki. This is poetry which is written by people we normally refer to as modem and who may be thought of as belonging to the third phase. The characteristics of this poetry are its competent and articulate use of the received European language, its unforced grasp of Africa’s physical, cultural and socio-political environment and often its lyricism. To distinguish this type of poetry we have to refer back to the concept of appropriation we introduced earlier. At the simplest and basic level, the cultural mandate of possessing a people’s piece of the earth involves a mental and emotional homecoming within the physical environment. Poems like Brew’s ‘‘Dry season”, Okara’s “Call of the River Nun”, Nicol’s “The meaning of Africa” and Soyinka’s “Season”, to give a few examples,

Former Maritime Agency Boss, Buba Galadima, Accuses AMCON Of Witch-hunt After Property Takeover

A former Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Agency, Buba Galadima, has accused the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria of witch-hunt after the agency took possession of his business and assets on Tuesday in Abuja. Galadima, an ardent critic of President Muhammadu Buhari, claimed that he did not borrow money or have unpaid debt with Unity Bank, which lodged a complaint against him and occasioned AMCON’s move on Tuesday. The properties taken over include House No. 15, Addis Ababa Crescent, Wuse Zone 4, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and House No. 4, Bangui Street, Wuse 2, also in Abuja.  Reacting to the situation, Galadima said, “This is an attempt to disgrace and break me down. This is injustice and an attempt to humiliate me. "But I am unbreakable and they can never silence me. They sacked me and over 50 people that sleep in the apartment. "We don’t know where to go. We will remain on the streets. We will remain on the streets until God provi
