Top Nigerian coach suspended after punching a player during a live match (photos)

- Ospino Egbe of Lobi Stars was punched on Thursday, April 11, by Kayode Julius in Akure

- Kayode Julius is the chief coach of NPFL side Sunshine Stars

- The ugly incident happened before the NPFL game between Sunshine Stars and Lobi

Nigeria Professional Football League side (NPFL) Sunshine Stars have announced the immediate suspension of their chief coach Kayode Julius over improper conduct.

Kayode Julius was involved in verbal war with Lobi Stars goalkeeper Ospino Egbe on Thursday, April 11, in Akure before the kickoff of the NPFL tie between Sunshine stars and Lobi.

He however punched the goalkeeper which made him to sustain a cut on his nose and fell on the ground before he was treated.

Some reporters who were on ground to cover the NPFL match between Sunshine Stars and Lobi explained that the goalkeeper uttered some abusive words towards the coach.

But coach Kayode Julius himself did not explain what transpired between him and the goalkeeper for him to have failed to control his anger.

Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars went on to win the match 3-0 at the Akure Township stadium and they will face Enugu Rangers in their next home game.

Rangers will be going to Akure will confidence after beating Kwara United 2-1 in their last game in Ilorin which took them to the top of NPFL Group A.

Previously, Legit.ng had reported how Super Eagles shot stopper Ikechukwu Ezenwa dumped Sunshine Stars for IfeanyiUbah FC after becoming unhappy with life at the club.

The 2018 World Cup goalie also left the Nnewi based club and he is currently playing for Katsina United in the Nigeria's topflight.
