President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday, April 1, depart Abuja for Dakar, Senegal to attend the inauguration of Senegalese president, Macky Sall.
The president's visit to Senegal follows President Sall's re-election for a second term in the just concluded Senegalese poll.
A statement by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, said the President’s trip followed an invitation from his host.
Adesina said President Buhari, who is ECOWAS chairman, will be the special guest of honour at the ceremony, to be attended by other African leaders at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday, April 2.

He also said that President Buhari would be accompanied by governors Mohammed Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai and Tanko Al-Makura of Bauchi, Kaduna and Nasarawa states respectively.
Others on the Presidential entourage include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama; National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd); director general, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai, and other top government officials.
“The President is expected back in the country at the end of the inauguration ceremonies,” Adesina said in the statement.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Buhari on Thursday, November 29, arrived from N’Djamena, Chad, where he reportedly renewed call for quick interventions and measures to curb the menace of Boko Haram insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin.
Buhari made the appeal at a one-day consultation with heads of state and governments of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC).
Legit.ng gathered that the meeting was called to address the recent upsurge in terrorist activities in the region, and the Nigerian leader rallied his colleagues from Chad, Niger Republic and Republic of Cameroon to a fresh onslaught against insurgents, particularly the Boko Haram group.
